Commencement
is an impressive and memorable occasion in every secondary school in the United
States. It represents the achievement of a goal that students and parents
and their teachers have worked long and hard to obtain. The ritual that surrounds
the commencement ceremony bespeaks the significance and dignity Americans
place on this very important moment in the life of every student who graduates.
Announcements
Send your ANNOUNCEMENTS to people with your personal card enclosed whom you
wish to inform of your graduation. This is NOT an invitation!
Commencement Tickets
You will be given FOUR TICKETS to Whiting Auditorium. WRITTEN REQUESTS for
additional tickets will be accepted from April th to May 8th and may be sent
to Mrs. Sue Murray by dropping off in the office, faxing to 810-591-9888,
or e-mailing to smurray@mail.kearsley.k12.mi.us. All requests should be on
an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and include the following - date of request,
number of extra tickets desired, and the GRADUATING STUDENT'S NAME AND PHONE
NUMBER WHERE THEY MAY BE CONTACTED. REQUESTS WILL NOT BE TAKEN BY PHONE. The
deadline for ticket requests is 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7th . The number
of extra tickets given to each graduate must be limited so all may have an
equal opportunity. PLEASE NOTE: Seating is limited; therefore, it may not
be possible to grant all requests. Tickets will be distributed with your cap
and gown on Friday, May 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
Caps & Gowns
Caps and gowns will be distributed at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 28th in the auditorium.
Press the gown and keep it hung on a hanger when not in use. PLEASE NOTE:
NO SENIOR WILL BE ISSUED A CAP AND GOWN IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT HE/SHE
WILL BE LACKING CREDITS OR IF A FINE IS OWED FOR ANY REASON. After successfully
passing all of his/her exams, he/she may then pick up a cap and gown Wednesday,
June 2 from Mrs. Murray in the main office.

SENIOR CLASS DAY PROGRAM in the gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. (Assemble in the cafeteria at 12:40 p.m.) Parents and friends are welcome. Your attendance at this program is optional.
SENIOR ATHLETIC AWARDS PROGRAM will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. This program is open to any student that participated in a varsity sport during his/her senior year. You must be present to receive your awards.
Thursday, June 3
HONORS CONVOCATION PRACTICE will be held in the auditorium at 8:30 a.m.
Participation in this program is strictly for those seniors graduating
with high honors, honors, or who will receive special awards.
HONORS CONVOCATION
will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium (assemble at 6:40 p.m. in
the auditorium hallway). Parents and friends are invited.
Friday, June 4
MANDATORY COMMENCEMENT PRACTICE WILL BE HELD AT 8:30 A.M. AT WHITING AUDITORIUM.
You will be presented with a card on which your name has been printed.
You MUST take that card with you to graduation Saturday evening. YOU ARE
NOT REQUIRED TO WEAR CAP & GOWN AT PRACTICE.
THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL-SPONSORED PROGRAM. BACCALAUREATE SERVICE WILL BE HELD PENDING DECISIONS MADE BY THE SENIOR CLASS. BACCALAUREATE PRACTICE will be held in the High school auditorium at 1:00 p.m. Only those seniors performing, leading or planning the service are required to attend. BACCALAUREATE SERVICE will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium (assemble in the auditorium hallway by 6:40 p.m.). Parents and friends are welcome. Your attendance at this program is optional.
Outstanding Fines
Caps and gowns and diplomas will not be issued nor will credits be available
to any senior who owes fines for textbooks, library books or who has failed
to return school-owned equipment or any other items for which you are or were
responsible.
Rehearsals
COMMENCEMENT WEEK will be the success we all want it to be if each of you
cooperate to the fullest extent. REHEARSALS ARE REQUIRED. Out of fairness
to all seniors, EVERYONE must be present to avoid confusion. Commencement
rehearsal on Friday at 8:30 a.m. is mandatory. If you plan on marching Saturday
evening, you MUST be there. NO EXCEPTIONS! Graduation from high school is
a ceremony which comes only once in a person's lifetime. We attempt on our
part to make it an experience where traditions have a meaning for all of the
graduates of Kearsley high school. Your behavior should represent the dignity
and honor of this occasion.
Safety Reminder
TAKE CARE IN DRIVING. Do not mar your senior activities by disaster because
of carelessness.
Report Cards
Report cards will be mailed after June 22.
Code of Conduct
Seniors are responsible to the policies of the Code of Conduct of the Kearsley
Community Schools through the completion of the commencement exercises on
June 5, 2010. Seniors who have violated the Code of Conduct are subject to
the identified discipline. Suspensions which extend through June 5, 2010,
will include loss of participation privileges in the commencement exercise.
Graduation Requirements
NO SENIOR WILL BE ELIGIBLE to participate in any of the preceding activities
UNLESS he/she has SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL STATE AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS
NECESSARY FOR RECEIVING a Kearsley High School diploma - athletic awards,
class day, honors convocation, baccalaureate and commencement. He/She WILL
NOT participate in any practices nor receive a cap and gown. If you have any
